Current Law
All firearm owners were required to renew their licenses under the Firearm Control Act (2000). If licenses were successfully renewed during the stipulated time period, or during the amnesty, licenses must again be renewed 90 days before the expiry date printed on the license. If training was conducted and applicants are in possession of the appropriate certificates, no further training need be undertaken at this time. The original training certificates can be taken to the police station to apply for renewal.
For all new licences, applicants must undergo the appropriate training, whether or not they have previously had a license.
